Wirral - Online across the peninsula - from £35

Men's counselling
on the Wirral

The Wirral runs from Birkenhead and Wallasey across to West Kirby, Heswall and Neston. There is no consulting room on the peninsula, so counselling here is online.

I work with men across the Wirral online by secure video or phone, weekends and evenings included subject to availability, payment upfront by bank transfer locks in the meeting date and time. Most men get started within days of the free initial call.

How online counselling works on the Wirral.

Sessions run by secure video or phone. A link arrives beforehand, you join from wherever suits, and the session runs the same fifty minutes it would in a room.

Southport is close on a map and much less close in practice, because getting there means the tunnel or the long way round. Online takes that question off the table entirely.

It also means the appointment does not depend on traffic. A tunnel queue has ended more than one plan to get somewhere on time, and a session you can join from your own front room is harder to talk yourself out of.

What you need for an online session.

A door that shuts, and whatever you already own - phone, tablet or laptop. The link arrives by email in advance. Headphones help more than a good camera does.

Men counselling men.

Most counsellors are women, on the Wirral as everywhere else. Some men are fine with that and some would rather sit opposite another bloke, and the second group tends to spend a long time scrolling before finding one. This practice exists for the second group.

What men on the Wirral bring to counselling.

Something that has been going on a while.

Not a crisis, and not new. A pattern that has been tolerated for years and has started to cost more than it did.

Sleep that stopped being reliable.

Waking at three, or not getting off in the first place. Usually a symptom of something else, and a useful place to start.

Drinking more than intended.

Not necessarily dependence. Often just a habit that grew quietly and is now doing a job it should not have to do.

Being the one everyone else relies on.

Holding things together at home or at work, with nowhere obvious to put any of it down.

There is no counselling room on the Wirral, and I will not pretend there is.

The one Mettle consulting room is in Southport. Everything across the Wirral is done remotely, and this page exists to be useful to people searching from the peninsula rather than to imply an office that is not there.

The Wirral is well served for in-person counselling if that is what you want. Say so on the free call and I will point you toward finding someone local instead of talking you into a format that does not suit you.

Counselling questions men in Wirral ask.

Do you have a room in Birkenhead or anywhere on the Wirral?

+

No. The room is in Southport and everything on the Wirral is online. If being in the room with someone matters to you, the Wirral has counsellors who can offer that, and I would rather say so than have you settle.

Is online counselling private if I live in a small place?

+

That is often the point of it. There is no building to be seen going into and no waiting room to sit in. What you do need is somewhere at your end where you will not be overheard, which is worth planning before the first session.

Do I need good broadband for this to work?

+

Not especially. Video works on an ordinary home connection or a phone signal, and if the picture becomes a distraction the session can carry on by voice. Sound matters far more than picture quality.

Can I have sessions during the working day?

+

Yes, if that is what fits. Some men use a lunch break or a gap between jobs. Others prefer the evening once the house is quiet. Bring your week to the free call and we can find something that holds.

What happens on the free 15-minute call?

+

You say what is going on, I say whether I think I can help, and we work out whether the format suits you. There is no assessment to pass and no obligation at the end of it. If I am not the right fit, I will say so.

Take the first step. No pressure. No obligation.
