Derbyshire - Online across the county - from £35

Men's counselling
across Derbyshire

Derbyshire runs from Glossop and Buxton in the high country down through Matlock and Chesterfield to Derby and the Erewash valley. There is no consulting room in the county, so counselling here is online.

I work with men across Derbyshire online by secure video or phone, weekends and evenings included subject to availability, payment upfront by bank transfer locks in the meeting date and time. Most men get started within days of the free initial call.

How online counselling works across Derbyshire.

Sessions run by secure video or phone. A link arrives beforehand and the session runs the same fifty minutes it would in a room.

Much of the county is rural, and in rural areas the nearest counsellor and the nearest convenient counsellor are rarely the same person. Online makes that distinction irrelevant.

It also means the appointment does not depend on the weather or the road. In the high peak in winter, that is not a small consideration.

What you need for an online session.

Privacy and a phone or laptop. The link comes by email beforehand. Rural broadband is usually enough, and if it is not, the session runs on voice without losing anything important.

Men counselling men.

Most counsellors in this country are women. In rural Derbyshire that leaves a man wanting to work with another man choosing between a long drive and no choice at all. Working online removes the distance, and this practice removes the search.

What men across Derbyshire bring to counselling.

Isolation that is not obvious from outside.

Being surrounded by people you know well and still having nobody you would say this to.

Low mood without an obvious cause.

Nothing has gone wrong, and it still feels flat. That is worth taking seriously rather than waiting out.

Anger that surprises you.

A reaction out of proportion to what caused it, followed by the work of smoothing it over.

A decision you keep not making.

A job, a relationship, a move. Sometimes a single session is enough to get unstuck.

There is no counselling room in Derbyshire, and I will not pretend there is.

The one Mettle consulting room is in Southport. Everything across Derbyshire is done remotely, and this page exists to be useful to people searching from the county rather than to imply an office in it.

If you would rather be in the room with someone, that is a fair preference and Southport is too far to serve it. Say so on the free call and I will point you toward finding someone closer.

Counselling questions men in Derbyshire ask.

My broadband is not great. Will this still work?

+

Usually. Video needs less than people expect, and if the picture becomes a distraction the session continues on voice alone. Sound is what matters; the picture is a convenience.

Can I talk to you from the car?

+

Plenty of men do, and parked somewhere quiet it works well. It is often the only genuinely private space available. Not while driving, for obvious reasons.

Do you only work with men?

+

The practice is built around men and that is where the experience is concentrated, which is why the site talks that way. It is a focus rather than a rule.

What if I do not know what to say?

+

That is normal and it is my job, not yours, to make the session useful. Turning up without a prepared account of the problem is a perfectly ordinary way to start.

Is the free call a sales call?

+

No. It is fifteen minutes to work out whether this is likely to help you. If I think someone else would serve you better, I will say so, and that happens often enough to be worth stating.

Take the first step. No pressure. No obligation.
