Mettle is the room for men who need to talk.
Truth time – I dislike writing profiles. So no wall of clinical jargon, and no trying to sound like a textbook. I just aim to be real.
Who you'll work with
Who you'll be working with.
When we work together, I bring a blend of different therapeutic styles including my personality. I'm a qualified person-centred counsellor and CBT practitioner, trained over three years as a Therapeutic Counsellor, with further training in Restorative Approaches and Single-Session Therapy. I've also completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) with lived experience, I can work with you to keep you safe for now and help repair, rebuild and reaffirm your life one conversation at a time.
Alongside private practice at Mettle, I run a free mental health service at the Salvation Army in Southport and mentor young people through the LFC Foundation.

Community work.
Two places I give time outside the private practice. Both matter to me.

Salvation Army / Southport
Free by-appointment counselling for adults in Southport, delivered by Chris as part of Project Sandgrounder at The Salvation Army hall. Open to men and women in the local community who face barriers to accessing support through the usual channels. Sessions are by appointment – email to book.

LFC Foundation / Mentor Works
I volunteer as a professional mentor through the LFC Foundation Mentor Works programme, supporting young people aged 16 and above across the Liverpool City Region who are not in full-time education or employment.
Participants are matched with mentors. Sessions focus on building confidence, practical skills for work, and figuring out what comes next – typically ten sessions, at least one in person.
