Blackpool & the Fylde - Online - from £35

Men's counselling
in Blackpool & the Fylde

The Fylde coast runs from Fleetwood and Cleveleys through Blackpool down to Lytham St Annes, with Poulton and Kirkham inland. There is no consulting room on the coast, so counselling here is online.

I work with men across Blackpool and the Fylde online by secure video or phone, weekends and evenings included subject to availability, payment upfront by bank transfer locks in the meeting date and time. Most men get started within days of the free initial call.

How online counselling works across the Fylde coast.

Sessions run by secure video or phone. A link arrives beforehand and the session lasts the same fifty minutes it would in a room.

A lot of work on this coast is seasonal or shift-based, which makes a fixed weekly appointment at a fixed address difficult to sustain. Online sessions can move with the rota instead of against it.

It also means a quiet week and a flat-out week can both accommodate a session, rather than the busy one simply cancelling it.

What you need for an online session.

A private space and any device with a microphone. The joining link is emailed in advance. A parked car works as well as a spare room, and often better.

Men counselling men.

Most counsellors in this country are women. Along this coast, a man who would rather work with a man has a short list and a long drive. Neither is a reflection on anyone - it just makes a reasonable preference harder to act on than it should be.

What men across the Fylde bring to counselling.

Work that stops and starts.

Seasonal income, and the particular strain of a good summer having to cover a thin winter.

Drinking that fits in too easily.

Where the trade and the social life overlap, it can take a while to notice the amount has changed.

Being far from family.

People move to the coast and then find the support network did not come with them.

Feeling stuck rather than sad.

Not depression exactly. A sense that things have settled into a shape you did not choose.

There is no counselling room in Blackpool, and I will not pretend there is.

The one Mettle consulting room is in Southport, along the coast. Everything across Blackpool and the Fylde is done remotely, and this page exists to be useful to people searching from here rather than to imply an office on the coast.

If in-person work is what you are after, the Fylde has counsellors who offer it. Say so on the free call and I will point you toward looking locally instead.

Counselling questions men in Blackpool & the Fylde ask.

My work is seasonal. Can I start and stop?

+

Yes. Pay-as-you-go exists for exactly this, with no commitment beyond the session booked. Blocks are the thing to avoid if your year comes in waves, since unused sessions expire.

Can I do a session on a day off rather than an evening?

+

Daytime slots exist and are often easier to get than evenings, which are the most contested. Worth asking on the free call rather than assuming evenings are the only option.

What if I am not sure I can afford it?

+

Say so early rather than late. There is free support listed further down this page, and Project Sandgrounder runs a free clinic in Southport. I would rather point you somewhere workable than have you start something you cannot sustain.

Do you work with men in recovery?

+

Yes. Addiction work is part of the background here rather than an add-on, though counselling sits alongside recovery support rather than replacing it.

Is it awkward on a phone rather than video?

+

Less than people expect. Plenty of the work happens on the phone by choice, and for some men the absence of a screen makes it easier to say the difficult part.

Take the first step. No pressure. No obligation.
