The Mettle Framework and Offers
This is the umbrella offer that sits above everything else. Whether you choose a single-session, ongoing counselling, CBT, or low‑immediacy support through text-based or voice-note therapy, the work follows the same core method that you can learn about below.
How this works
This is the structure behind each offer:
Outcome (Result)
What do you actually want to be different? Not vaguely. Specifically.
Purpose
Why does it matter to you? what does staying the same cost you? "Reasons come first and answers come second."
Plan (MAP)
What actions make the outcome real? We create a Mettle Action Plan = the steps that create movement and momentum with deadlines.
Movement and meaningful progress
When the "why" is clear, the "how" becomes simpler. The "next" is not the same for every man. Sometimes it's a plan. Sometimes it's a decision. Sometimes it's simply being heard without the need to turn it into something logical.
The point is that you don't leave with more mental noise. You leave with something real you can carry forward; an action, a clearer focus, a change in perspective, or a calmer mind that makes each new day easier to manage.
That's why every offer below is designed to end with something usable in your real life, alongside new insights.
Choose the delivery format that removes your barrier
You don't have to like face-to-face therapy to benefit from therapy. Depending on the offer, you can choose:
In-person
Real-time work based in Southport.
Telephone
If you want privacy without being seen.
Video
If you want real-time work from home.
Text-based
Delayed messaging support if you want time to reflect before responding through email.
Voice-note
If you prefer speaking but don't want live calls.
You can change format later. You're not locked into a method you'll avoid.
How to remove the guesswork
Choose based on what you want right now:
If you have one specific issue and want clarity fast, choose Offer 1.
If you want support over time because the "issue" is bigger than one decision, choose Offer 3.
If you want tools to break repeating loops (thoughts, reactions, behaviours), choose Offer 4.
If you don't want live conversation but still want structured support, choose Offer 2.
Now for the offers; without the ambiguity.
Offer 1
One‑session clarity for men who feel stuck
Applying the Single‑Session Therapy (SST) mindset, trained by Professor Windy Dryden.

What this offer is
One highly focused session designed to help you get unstuck on one issue. This is not "start therapy and see how it goes." This is: choose the most pressing concern, define what useful looks like to you and work toward creating achievable change.
See if you recognise yourself
You're physically functioning each day, but mentally you're stuck on something.
You've got a decision you can't make, a situation you're struggling to resolve, or a thought you can't stop replaying.
You don't want open-ended exploration. You want direction.
You've done a lot of thinking already and it hasn't produced relief.
You want to try therapy without agreeing to ongoing work, or stuck in an NHS waiting list for Talking Therapy.
You want to leave with something you can use and apply in the real world.

What you can realistically leave with
Possible outcomes, not promises. Depending on your concern, you may leave with:
Real Problem Clarity
A clearer definition of what the real problem is (not the surface noise).
Sharper Goal
A sharper goal for what you're actually trying to achieve.
Perspective Shift
A shift in perspective that reduces the pressure or confusion.
Practical Next Step
A practical next step that fits your situation and resources.
A Decision You Own
A decision you can stand behind, even if it's not the "perfect" one.
Stop the Loop
A way to stop the mental loop from running the rest of your week.
What's included
01
Pre‑Session Focus
You complete a short optional pre-session form so you start with purpose to address the reason for attending therapy.
02
Focused Session
We clarify what you want from the conversation and agree to work towards what is most useful and manageable.
03
Clear Take‑Away
We finish with what you are taking forward; not just insight, but something you can act on.
04
Follow‑Up Reflection
Optional reflection to consolidate what changed and what helped. This is also helpful for Mettle to evaluate outcomes.
Boundaries (so you know exactly what this isn't)
  • This isn't crisis support.
  • This isn't a promise to "fix everything in one session." That doesn't exist.
  • This isn't a sales funnel into ongoing sessions. One session is valid.
  • No guarantees are made about outcomes. Benefits are possible and, not promised.
Price
£75 for 50 minutes.
This offer is for you if you want clarity fast on one issue, and you want to leave with a next step.
Offer 2
Low-immediacy support (Text‑based and Voice-note options)
Structured support without live sessions

What this offer is
This is therapy for men who don't want a live conversation, but still want real support. It's "low‑immediacy" on purpose:
  • You can consider your response in as much time as you need.
  • You can engage without the pressure of being seen, heard live, or committed to a schedule.
This offer isn't "chat anytime." It's structured, and contained.
Who this is for and common reasons men choose it
You feel resistant to in-person work and don't want video or phone either straight away.
You think better when you can write, pause, re-read, and respond calmly.
You speak better than you write, but you don't want a live call.
Your schedule is unpredictable and live appointments feel like another stressor.
You want support, but you don't want to feel emotionally flooded in real time.
You want privacy and control over pace, tone, and timing.
Two ways to do it (choose the medium you will actually use)
Text-based therapy (delayed messaging)
You send one written message about a specific issue. I respond with one structured reply.
Voice-note therapy (delayed audio)
You send one voice note. I reply with one voice note. Each response is paid for in advance.
Both options are designed to produce clarity and direction, not endless dialogue.
Here's what you get
Each exchange includes:
A clear prompt from me
On how to frame your message so it stays useful (not a rant, not a spiral).
One focused client message from you
One problem at a time.
One considered response from me
That may include reflections on what you've said, questions to sharpen the issue, patterns I notice, suggested next steps, a way to test a different response in real life.
A clear "what happens next"
At the end of each exchange so it doesn't drift.
Boundaries (non-negotiable built to protect you)
  • One exchange active at a time.
  • Up to 1000 words per exchange (i.e., 1001-2000 words = two exchanges).
  • This is not real-time support.
  • This is not crisis support.
  • Additional responses require payment or can be prepaid as a block.
  • The aim is usefulness and movement, not dependency.
  • You have the option to include your own.
Response time and pricing
  • £50 per exchange
  • Response within 48 hours of receipt
  • You can pay per exchange
  • You can prepay up to four exchanges.
This is for you if want support but you don't yet want live sessions, and you want time to think before you respond.
Offer 3
Ongoing support for men who desire to be heard without risk of judgment
Applying the person-centred approach to Therapeutic Counselling

What this offer is
This is counselling for men who need breathing room over time. It's for when "one session" won't touch the full picture because what you're carrying is layered with stress, pressure, emotional weight, identity stuff, relationship strain, loss, and old habits of coping alone. You're not guided toward decisions or solutions. The focus is on creating a consistent environment where steadiness and understanding can develop over time.
Who this is for
You're holding yourself together, but tired of holding them alone.
You want a regular space to speak freely without judgement.
You want to understand what's driving your emotional state, not just manage symptoms.
You need time to unpack patterns without rushing yourself to a solution.
You want steadiness without direction.
You want someone who can help you stay focused and challenge you safely.
Possible outcomes you may notice over time
Less Alone
You feel less alone with what you're thinking.
Emotionally Steady
You feel more emotionally steady under pressure.
Clearer Self-Understanding
You understand yourself more clearly and respond with more choice.
Out of Reaction Mode
You stop living in constant reaction mode.
Direction Restored
You regain a sense of direction and personal control.

What's included
Regular counselling sessions
A consistent, confidential space.
Light structure
So sessions stay useful rather than vague.
Review points
So the work doesn't drift or continue unnecessarily.
Real conversation
Space for real conversation without pressure to perform or "solve" immediately.
You choose how to receive therapy
  • In-person
  • Telephone
  • Video
Boundaries
  • No guarantees are made about outcomes. Benefits are described as possible, not promised.
  • Therapy is not "endless by default". We review usefulness.
Price
£50 for 50 minutes.
This offer is for you if you want steady support that builds self-awareness, and emotional balance over time.
Offer 4
Change repeating patterns in a structured way
Applying Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic (CBT) Skills and Techniques

What this offer is
This is structured work for men who keep finding themselves in the same loops: thought loops, reaction patterns, behaviours that don't help, mood dips that repeat.
It's practical, but not rigid. The point is not to "talk about it forever." The point is to understand the pattern, test safe alternatives, and build a response that is meaningful and lasting.
Who this is for
You can see the pattern of behaviour, but are unable to stop it consistently.
Your thoughts are running away with you and you want a method to interrupt that.
You want healthy tools, and techniques to safely manage your coping responses.
You're open to experimenting with new responses between sessions.
You're tired of insight without change turning into action.
You want to build skills that work outside the session.
Possible outcomes you may notice
Increased Awareness
Increased awareness of what triggers you.
More Flexibility
More flexibility in how you respond.
Reduced unhelpful thoughts
Disrupt negative automatic thoughts.
More Confidence
More confidence handling situations that used to hijack you.
Clearer Control
A clearer sense of control over your thinking patterns.
What is included
01
Structured assessment and formulation
Triggers, thoughts, emotions, behaviours — so you're not guessing.
02
Targeted CBT tools
Used selectively (not a fixed programme).
03
Between-session focus
Clearly explained, relevant, and realistic.
04
Progress reviews
So you know what's changing and what needs adjusting.
You choose how to receive therapy
  • In-person
  • Telephone
  • Video
Boundaries
  • No outcomes are guaranteed. The aim is increased understanding, choice, and agency.
  • The work stays pragmatic and proportionate.
Price
£50 for 50 minutes.
This offer is for you if you want structured tools to change repeating patterns.
Pricing Principle
So you understand what you're paying for
Pricing reflects the value of clarity gained, mental load reduced, and time saved from staying stuck. It's not justified by "time spent", but by usefulness and impact over time.
